A Heron-ing Experience

While outside grilling some steaks this unusual creature stopped by to take a look around. I know what he/she was looking for…. dinner. I have a koi pond and I am sure the fish looked delicious. I watched ol’ Heron for a few minutes then decided to take the chance and run inside to get my camera. I am so glad I did.

The Great Blue Heron stands four feet tall, has a seven-foot wingspan. That is one BIG bird. While taking a few shots of him the timer on the steaks went off… YIKES now what? Turn off the grill take a few more shots and save the steaks.

I suppose he got tired of waiting for me to leave so he could swoop down and eat all the koi in the pond. I got three shots of him flying off and saved the steaks.:) Guess who decided it was time to cover the pond with bird netting?
