Good Morning Javelina

Getting out of my car at work the other morning I noticed this javelina (also known as Peccary) This one was as surprised to see me as I was to see him/her. I got a few shots of him before he wandered off.

The Collared Peccary is the only wild, native, pig-like animal found in the United States. They look similar to pigs, Peccaries are classified in a family of their own the Tayassuidae Family while true pigs are members of the Suidae Family.

  1. Great pictures! I was blown away the first time I saw these things wandering around my neighborhood. I accidentally snuck up on a hers of them while taking out the trash. We all startled each other then ran away in different directions. Javelina are one of the things that keep me in Arizona. Beautiful little beasts.

    • They are pretty cool looking creatures. So glad you enjoyed the photos. Thanks for your comment and for stopping by.

  2. wow… interesting pic
